Ah, greed. What stupid things you make people do...
Jasmine's grin seemed to double in evilness as Shaehern started considering her offer. She knew Shae pretty well, drunk or not. And the boy could not resist a game that offer so much money. But he was underestimating her...and boy, underestimating was the understatement of the year. The whole point of Jasmine's talent was she got into a person's head and implanted the thought, to the point where they think they thought it themselves with no idea she'd put it there. Sure the man knew her talent, and he'd even been its victim once...
...but even then it hadn't been maximum power.
"You're in!" she giggled madly and raised both arms over her head, again, drawing attention she didn't notice. "No turning back, Shhhhhaaaaaae! You're caught now! And my friends were never rich," Jazz gave the blue man a grin that rivaled his own, "Though they did have very bad reputations." And all because of this venomous little game of hers.
Without even a warning, the plum lowered her hand and leaned backward, locking her pale little hand onto Shae's wrist, still holding onto her. Her eyes switched to that odd pupil-less way they did when her talent was in use, and she started the game with the lowest level of strength. Odd enough, it was the same strength she'd used on Hades that eve in the orchid. "Lets see...for starters...lets do a simple one. Sit down, Shaehern."
It might be easier to laugh at you when you mess up if your sitting...

Shaehern was still perched behind Jasmine with his arms draped about his best friend. For now, she was something of the enemy since there would be no backing out and money was on the line. Still, he found his current position comfortable and made an audible sound of disappointment when she told him to sit down.
"I can play the game standing up though," he mumbled from his position, completely unaware that she was even doing anything to nudge him in that direction. "I kind of like this position." The idea to sit in her lap instead of a chair crossed his mind briefly. After all, he'd be standing up eventually when he succumbed to one of her attempts, right?
Still, perhaps sitting might let him focus more on resisting the urges to do things. Reluctantly he let go of his friend and slid over into a seat. It occurred to him only after he sat down that she had used her talent to make the idea seem more convincing. "You... are tricky," he admitted as he gently knocked his head against the surface of the table. She got him good.
Humble pie apparently wasn't very filling, because now he couldn't wait for another bite of it. "I hope you weren't even trying then, because I wasn't at all."

"Totally got you on that," Jasmine laughed when the realization struck Shae like a floating garbage bag to the face. Or a table, as it were, seeing the man headdesk was enough to make the little plum laugh. He hadn't noticed because she was just that subtle in her magic. He was a goner if she decided to up it a little...but where was the fun in doing the hard stuff right away? I'll let him think he's all that for a while...then spring the tough stuff on him. He won't know what hit him!
'Walking' her little hands across the table to where he sat, Jazz chirped to get his attention. "Remember, no takey-backies!" she giggled and she poked him on the neck. Just a little poke. But, had he been looking up, he might have seen her eyes still in their 'talent working' mode. Still on minimum-strength, of course.
"Come on, sit up and try again."
It was so subtle, and so mean doing another that he might miss again, but maybe keeping up the small stuff would be better preparation for the big stuff. And if not...
Well, it teaches him not to be so cocky, am I right?

Unlike the first time, Shae didn't even comment as he sat up and then was tempted to hit his head against the table again. Had she really just done that to him a second time? This time it took even less effort, but Shaehern swore it was because she told him to do something he already was going to do. He would have had to do it to continue with this game instead of just glancing up at her to talk.
She was being devious, but had not told him to do anything out of the ordinary yet. So far she had avoided throwing any instructions at him that Shaehern would have avoided on his own. In a way, he felt a little cheated out of that second one. "All right, now you're just being cheap," he mumbled, though he made no more boasts.
"Give me a real one now," he said, though his voice sounded just a tad less chipper than it usually did. If this kept up he'd need a drink.

Jasmine giggled and leaned a little, lifting one hand and resting her cheek in it, the other still stretched out toward Shaehern. She was being a little cheap, but it was just giving him a little exposure to her talent. Little by little, easy stuff first. But now he wanted a real one? The glint in her still-turned gaze was getting even more wicked at the thought of things she could make him do. Shots? No, that was a small thing. And getting him too drunk would ruin the fun of the 'embarrassment' portion of the game.
So...what to do with her new 'play thing'?
"A real one...hmm...if you reeeeeeeeeeeeeally want me to," she stretched her hand out and motioned for his wrist. Once she had it, she locked eyes with the male so he knew she was using her talent...and the fact her eyes were glowing brighter was a sign she'd up'd the strength. Brighter they were, the more dangerous she could be. Suddenly there would be another meaning to the flash-light brightness she'd had at the ball.
But her gaze moved from Shae's eyes to a man that was looking in their direction. How long had he been staring? Oh, what did it matter. Then a sick thought popped into Jasmine's head.
Test number three.
"Shae-hen? See that guy at the bar? The one looking right at us...? Go give him a kiss on the cheek. And make it good~"
And hope he doesn't kill you.

Shaehern drummed his fingers against the table for a moment. He was staring directly at Jasmine's eyes. They were sort of enchanting, especially with how they glowed when she was utilizing her talent. Shaehern rarely touched his talent in public places. It made him feel better when he could do more without his talent than he could with it, but his talent certainly had its uses.
Wisps gave him eyes wherever he pleased. That alone was a valuable asset. However, now was not really the time to be considering assets. Now was the time for bets and to earn himself some money. Shaehern made the observation that her eyes were a little brighter now. Did that mean she was focusing more? Even more interesting, she was able to focus on it even while drunk? That alone seemed amazing.
Shaehern suddenly licked his lips as he stared at the man over yonder. Had that been one of the people he had flashed the look to earlier. Handsome features and not a bad build. Shaehern felt his fingers drum a little bit more quickly. This was tough because he knew it was something he might do without Jasmine's suggestion at all. With Jasmine's suggestion, it was pretty overpowering.
"Maybe I shall." He said as he shifted in his sea. However, he managed to pause halfway through rising and set himself back down again. At least try to last a minute there, buddy. Restraint seemed a little harder than he imagined it was.
"Resisting temptation is so hard," he muttered as he tried to look at Jasmine instead. It wasn't unbearable just yet, but he imagined it could be. One finger curled through his hair while the other hand slowly dragged nails across the top of the table. Try and earn a little at least while it's still easy.

For a moment, the plum wondered if she'd gotten away with three for three. She knew the kind of person Shaehern was, and she knew something like this would be exactly the sort of thing he would do on his own. And she'd picked a sorta-appealing guy. All the more difficult for the man to resist. But hell, it was her money on the line, so why do something that would be easier for Shaehern to ignore and would cost her? That would be counter-productive to the game, after all.
Plus, although she wouldn't admit it even when drunk...
...seeing two guys together wasn't that bad.
But then Shae sat down. Jasmine's grin faded just a little. Just a little. "Aww, here I thought I'd caught you again," she mewled and moved the other hand up to hold her face, "You know it's going to happen. Unless you die, the push won't go away."
Now she had to play the waiting game. It shouldn't take long.
Not to sound condescending, but it was Shaehern after all.

"Mmmmm," Shaehern tried to not make any verbal commentary because he was focusing on not doing what Jasmine had suggested to him earlier. The sensation wouldn't go away, but he was trying for one minute... maybe two. That was he could at least cash in on a mijn or two before the game got interesting and she started tossing ridiculous things at him at nearly impossible to resist levels.
There might be consequences for kissing a man too. Shaehern was trying to plot out what he'd do to get away with it. Running might be good. Also, Jasmine had suggested a kiss on the cheek, but a kiss on the lips wasn't out of the question either.
It felt like an eternity sitting at that table before Shae finally stood up and walked over to the bar. He was going to make it look like he was fetching a drink. He got himself a glass of brandy, but at the very last moment he leaned over and planted a kiss on the man's cheek. He turned in shock and stared at Shae, and the man planted another kiss flat on his lips before running off with a giggle.
He was fully prepared to retreat from the bar if he had to in order to escape potential wrath.
After all, it was Shae.

A minute passed, then another, and almost another. The little smile on Jasmine's face almost faded into a drunken, irritated frown. What if he actually managed to resist? What if he made it to ten minutes? She was not a poor Boogie, but she completely forgot to bring a lot of money with her to the bar. A few drinks...or four bottles worth...was not all that expensive, so why risk bringing all that cash? If Shaehern did manage to wait it off for a long time, the plum might end up dealing out a few IOU's.
Which would suck. Debt was not a game Jazz liked to play.
But, lucky for Jazz, Shae was Shae and men were men.
"Two minutes..." she mused as he got up and walked up to the stranger. Watching him kiss the fellow on the cheek was funny, but seeing him kiss him on the lips full on made her cover her mouth in shock. He did it so easily! Kissing seemed so simple when he did it...but for her, it was like jumping off the roof-top of a very, very, very tall building. Just talking to Iugo...let alone kissing him...it was...oh brother, her spinning brain was starting to spin faster.
The man at the bar looked stunned for a minute, before looking down at his glass of booze and pitching the remaining liquid over his shoulder.
Once Shaehern was back at the table, little Jasmine dug into the pocket of her dress and pulled out a little purple coin purse. "Congrats on makin' it this far-a-ways Shae-hen. That was...what, two minutes? So two mijn...here we are." Little pale hands pulled out two equally little coins, placing them on the table in front of her. The Cheshire cat grin popped automatically back into place. "Tell me when you're ready and we'll start round four!"
Jazz didn't notice, or care, as the confused Boogie male walked out of the bar muttering to himself.

There was something of a sway or a bounce to his steps as he crossed the floor of the pub. He couldn't help but take a sip of the diversion he had planned for himself before snatching up the two coins. In an almost delightful way he made them vanish out of one hand and appear in the other before clenching one hand closed and taking another sip out of his glass. Comically, he spat the two coins out of his mouth back into his hand.
Jovial performances aside, he cleaned the two with a napkin and then pocketed the coins. Only the most keenest of observers could really tell which pocket they went into. Shaehern understood now what the nagging sensation felt like when invoked from outside. In some ways he always dealt with such nagging sensations, but he was not used to refusing his personal wants and desires.
The differences were very, very subtle and were most easily picked apart by thinking hard about what was being implanted into his head. It became much trickier if she picked something that he would do normally without hesitation, but that was where the challenge of the game came into play.
He almost wished he had a similar talent so he could play the game right back at her. However, he suspected that she might have quite a bit more money to bargain into something like this than he did.
"I'm ready, my little chickadee. That one was a challenge, but we'll see how spectacularly I fail in the fourth fray." Fabulous.

Once again, magic wasn't exactly impressive for Jasmine, no matter how clever or mystical it seemed it was always one big trick. But when you're utterly plastered via four bottles of tequila, even a floating piece of dust is amazing. Soon as the coins popped out of Shae's mouth the amazed Boogie woman clapped and giggled madly, covering her mouth when she was done, well aware she was grinning like a child watching the circus.
When the coins were pocketed, it was back to business.
Jasmine lowered her hands again and held her chin in them, elbows on the table. The next test...something Shaehern might do normally, yet also something dangerous. Yes, she decided to make it dangerous this time. But what could she do to mess with him? Make him hit on Luther? Nah. Even the fruit basket of Wonderland wouldn't do that. Maybe he would hit on Naelona? ...no, that would be way too dangerous. So what could she make him do that was like him and had an edge of danger...
Piss of Iugo. But how? Break a knife? No, he'd broken his already.
Then what about...
Eyes already shifting in the way they did when her own brand of magic was brought into play, the plum woman snapped her arm out and caught onto Shae's wrist for the fourth time. The look on her face was a smile, but beyond that it was unreadable what was going though her wacky little mind.
"Kiss me, Shae-hen."
...maybe that was a little too dangerous...but who cared?

He could hear the little gears turning in her head. The gears were always a little different after a few (or not so few) drinks, but the same signs of functioning applied. She had to figure out something challenging that she might acquire some enjoyment out of watching. If she picked really good she might be able to watch him sweat for a little bit.
"Kiss me, Shae-hen."
Shaehern could not wrap his head around the logic of that little dare. She had watched what happened last time he had made a pass at her--Iugo had flipped. Then again, Iugo was not here. There was a risk factor of Iugo finding out, but it was possible that he would simply never hear such a thing or pass it off as rumor and hearsay. The risk factor was nearly nullified in that regard.
However, there was another peculiar risk involving dealing with women. Shaehern had kissed Jasmine once before, but it had been to get a reaction out of her. More or less it was a rite of passage in order to join the unique club of close friends for Shaehern. A few people got away without that particular initiation, but all of them went through something like it. She had made him promise not to do it again.
However, this 'dare' put him in quite a dilemma. She was cute and charming and very sweet. He took another long sip from his glass as he considered this and other facts. Not kissing her was akin to a slap to the face, was it not? He had nothing to lose if he did kiss her, really. Besides, part of him felt like he really wanted to kiss her, though it was hard to tell if that was the talent or something else.
He leaned and slowly brushed a bit of her hair aside and gently pressed his lips on hers. A tad more romantic than the first shocker he gave her out in those woods, but still not the best he could do. The fireworks would fly enough without that kind of effort.

Jasmine kept grinning while Shaehern stalled his next test with a sip of brandy. Yes, she'd played an odd hand, but it was also a hand that would help her win in the end. Shae had already shown he couldn’t resist this sort of temptation, plus if Iugo heard about this, he would get so ma--wait, what am I doing?! If Iugo hears about me and Shaehern kissing, he'll kill Shae and completely avoid me! But we kissed already...well, he doesn't know about that, does he?…oh God, if he ever found out about that…or this……dammit, I need another drink…
Her sober-sanity side shut down after that mini-revelation. Just in time for her best friend to lean in and kiss her.
Again?
Gold eyes blinked rapidly, half-way forgetting it was her talent that prompted this. When she did remember she calmed down. It was just a kiss. Shaehern had kissed that stranger at the bar like it was nothing. This was no different, right? It was just a little kiss, nothing more than that. That was all it was…even if Shae was a pretty good kisser. Though he was the only man she’d ever kissed…does that make me biased? Considering the number of women she’d kissed in her eight thousand years, that didn’t seem to be the case. Hell, she’d even used game to pick up girls when she was younger.
Was this kiss any different than those?
Jazz was still for a second before, despite everything her near-mute sober side was shouting at her, she leaned up and kissed the blue Boogie man back. When the little woman pulled away from that little ‘moment’, her eyes were a little brighter, but she wasn’t using her talent. Her pale face was also a tad pinker. Little fingers reached up and touched her lips shyly. “…huh…you didn’t…waste any time on that, did you, Shae-hen…” even her voice was a little different. It was quieter, a little shakier. Like it had been that eve in the garden.
But, again, it wasn’t the way Iugo made her feel. It was a little less ‘sweet’, and a little more...odd.
“…you’re pretty good at that…”
Jasmine wanted that drink even more now.

Delight and passion were the bread and wine of life, and Shae was a connoisseur of all these things. The only way to really know the world was to experience it all, or at the very least as much as could be conceivably sampled without causing too much of a ruckus. She had put him in a dangerous little dilemma, but that had made the risk all the sweeter. The very first time their lips had touched Shaehern had taken a slight risk. This time the stakes were a little higher, but the odds were more in his favor.
Of course, none of that really mattered because even in losing this gamble and the related one (should Iugo ever discover what had transpired) Shae stepped away a little bit richer. The way she blushed pink as a passionate peach was a wealth in experience alone.
"I have practice," he murmured pleasantly with another sip of his drink. Perhaps she was not nearly so drunk as he anticipated if she were still capable of a blush so vivid. "Should I really have wasted time with that one? It is a rude thing to make a lady think she isn't irresistible, after all." This rule applied even if the lady was your best friend, even if she was drunk, and even if she wasn't all that much into men.
As he took another sultry sip from his snifter he looked at her through his own bright and alluring gaze. When he next spoke the words seemed a little more sagely than most ramblings to escape Shaehern's lips. "Learn to love and love to live and live to learn." A personal credo? Perhaps it was.

Oh brother. Of all the words to say in such a manner, he managed to make 'practice' sound so horribly perverted. Jasmine blinked as he sipped the brandy again, almost wanting to ask for a sip, before she tilted that plum head of hers at his next comment-question. The blush that seemed to be fading fast brightened almost instantly. "Irres-tit-stable?" Of course, even when drunk, she knew the meaning of the word...but never once had she heard herself being called that. Her talent was irresistible and inescapable, but her as a person?
That odd feeling got a little stronger. As well as the need for a drink.
Jasmine giggled a little at the creed. "Here I thought I was the one with all the quoteings..." she mused, wondering why Shaehern was looking at her like that. It wasn't how he usually looked at her, was it? Or had she just never noticed it before? Either way...she didn't hate it. Or like it. It was, again, an odd feeling. "Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live. Heard that one before?" ignoring the questions in her mind, she stated a favorite line of her own.
...dammit, my throat feels dry...
"Shaaaaaaaaaaaaahern!!" the little woman suddenly whined and reached her hands out again, both latching onto the man's wrists though her talent did not go into effect. "I'm feelin' soberish!! We need to fix that!! Gim'me some of your drink or get'me one!! Pretty please with sugar and plum on top...?" Jasmine forgot to stop talking before the next line slipped out, "You can kiss me again if you doooooooooo!!"
Note to self, think, then think again, then speak!
