Avary quickly walked through the Palace, adjusting his dark leather gloves at first, and then immediately brought a hand up and attempted to flip his antennae out of his face; despite having been around for some many, many years, he was finally nervous about something, at long last. He wasn't entirely certain how to handle the feeling, except to repress it and remain optimistic. After all; he was going to be reunited with his son. At least, he hoped he would be.
Avary looked to either side of the hall, caught sight of a human, and asked him a few questions about Tristan's general haunts. Despite through the human's mumbling and constantly downward cast eyes, Avary managed to discern that Tristan's usual hang out was in the Study of the Palace; he acquired directions to the study, and sent the human on his way. When the human rounded a corner, Avary took a deep breath and tried to decide what to do next. Go and find Tristan in the study? Or just send him a letter?
A mere moment of pondering gave Avary an almost immediate answer; he wanted to see Tristan now. He hadn't seen him for nearly ten thousand years, and he didn't particularly feel like waiting possibly a week before getting a letter back that may or may not say that Tristan felt like seeing his face at all. No, rather than take that chance, Avary decided that he catch Tristan off-guard; maybe he'd just pop up and say 'hi' right now!
And so Avary began walking once more, this time in the direction of the Study. He flipped his hair again as he drew closer, and underneath his ribbed turtleneck, his wings twitched. What would Tristan say? How would he react to him, after all these years? Avary didn't know those answers, but he surely wished he had; there was so much uncertainty in dealing with people you hardly even knew; Avary had only been in his life for two decades, and now, almost ten thousand years later, he was trying to get in touch with his son once more.
He was, altogether, exceptionally curious about how his arrival would go over, but his quick pace didn't give him much time to think, as he drew closer, and closer to the door. He stopped suddenly, readjusted his gloves, and flipped his antennae once more, for good measure. And pushed the door open.

As usual these days, Tristan was seated at his established seat in the Study. Established because it was where he chose to sit, and there were few anymore who would care to contest the claim. It only helped his solitude that most of the other boogies inhabiting the palace refused to be in the room so long as he was there. Normally there would still be humans there going about their duties, but ever since this rebellion nonsense had started they too were avoiding him like the plague. Quite honestly he didn't see why. The only ones that need worry were those upstarts who thought themselves better than their masters, he would see to it that the rest were unharmed.
At the moment he was busy compiling various data and statistics on the current state of affairs. Things like missing humans and boogies, bodies that had turned up, possible dissenters on both sides. The later he of course planned to deal with swiftly and decisively should they prove to be rebelling, be it against the boogies or he himself. He would not stand for such things, there was a natural order that noyl he could maintain, and maintain it he would.
Hearing the doors open he looked up, mildly surprised that someone in this palace was brave enough to disturb him. The only one he knew of with such courage was Naelona, and so he naturally assumed it was her that was entering. Was he ever wrong.
Through the doors stepped a man that he hadn't seen in nigh on nine thousand years, and hadn't ever really expected to see again. Needless to say it was a mild shock to see him here in the palace of all places, unless things had taken a change since he'd left home then his father never went anywhere. Something dire indeed must have occurred to bring him this far out....that or the man was just bored, which did happen on occasion. However shocked or no he remained calm, just as he'd always been taught. "It has been some time father." That was putting it mildly.

Avary smiled at Tristan, though on the inside, he was surprised that finding him was so easily done. And then realization dawned on him. He'd come all this way to see his son... And he didn't even know why! Or what to talk about, for that matter. Suddenly, Avary was anxious once again, and he once more futilely attempted to flip his antennae of hair from in front of his face; it didn't help at all, but sometimes, it soothed his nerves. Avary watched Tristan from afar. Indeed, though his body had not changed, he did look much more experienced now, and worldly.
And Tristan's comment, well, that made Avary chuckle slightly. "Some time, my son? Indeed it has." Avary somewhat froze up. He wasn't entirely sure of what to do now. He'd found his son... But to what end? He'd been hoping that Tristan would have been as excited to see him as he had been to see Tristan. Ah, well, can't really blame him. Avary lazily stretched out, his amber eyes closing for an instant and then opening once more. Rather than just address Tristan from the doorway, Avary decided to continue walking into the room, and, looked around once inside. "I see their flair for decorations in the Palace hasn't diminished."
Avary looked him over, from head to toe, appraising his appearance. And he couldn't help but have pride swell up in his chest upon viewing him. "It's... Good to see you, Tristan. How has your life been treating you?" Avary wanted to know more from his own son, as he'd heard several tales; and yet he didn't want to seem too prying as well, so, he limited it to one question at a time. Not that he wouldn't ask the others, he just didn't want to overload the poor boy's brain. [/size]

In spite of himself, he couldn't help the amused smirk that found its way onto his face. Yes, some time was probably the biggest understatement this century. It had nigh on ten millenia since he'd seen his family, his old home. In that time he'd done what many went their whole lives only talking about. He'd not only carved out his place in the world as leader of this mangy pack, but he'd held on to it for all these years. There were none brave enough to challenge him, and those stupid enough were quickly enough gotten rid of. But to be honest...he was growing weary of it all. For months now he'd been thinking of home more and more. Little did he expect that home would find him here.
The smirk was soon replaced by a grimace as he followed his father's eyes, he too noting the glimmer and show-offishness. "Yes. Their lust for ostentation knows no bounds" Quite personally it had always been a trait he'd despised. It had always been his way to have only what was necessary, anything more than that was a waste. This was, of course one of many, reasons that his coffers were substantially more...substantial, than most anyone else in the palace, and even many of them combined. Wheres they frittered away the meager sums they won in betting with each other on pointless luxuries, leaving them with little to nothing. He on the other actually earned his way, and only spent the large amounts he obtained on what was absolutely necessary. This mainly consisting of spoiling his humans.
Tristan noticed the way his father appraised his appearance, not really bothered by the examination. He knew that there was nothing to find fault with; aside form his eye and the numerous scars he was in peak physical condition. But the question followed....that one was a doozy. How exactly could he sum up the fact that everything in his life was falling apart in just a few words? He'd never admitted weakness to anyone, and if the man before him were anyone else he wouldn't be admitting it now. In the end he merely resolved the issue by rubbing his temple and sighing wearily. "Things...haven't been going well of late."
