Combat boots pounded on the ground, gasping breath loudly audible above them as their owner hurried on, fearful of the enemy approaching.
Gippal arms swung heavily back and forth, his single eye wide and frantic. It was such a stupid idea to even think of coming here, why the hell did he do it? Nothing was worth this sort of nightmare.
Making a small grunt as his elbow scraped against a rigid wall, the blonde felt his heartbeat quicken from the unexpected sting. Of course, he just had to be so arrogant and damn proud to show off in front of Piper. Why the hell did he have to think with his heart so much and not with his head? Most would argue that he even had one, but he sure as hell heard it screaming at him now.
"A-ah!" Gippal cried, foot catching on an upturned tree root, losing his balance and collapsing heavily onto the grimy ground. Twisting his torso to look behind him, the teen's eye darted every which direction, searching for the giant black hounds that been hot on his tail. Upon seeing nothing, he let out a short exhale of relief.
Gippal's stomach heaved abruptly and he began a coughing fit, lifting himself onto his elbows and squeezing his eye shut tight. After the onslaught subsided, he opened his eye slowly and wiped at the moisture forming.
Giving a shake of his head, Gippal pulled himself to his feet. Backing up until his back hit the stone wall behind him, the blonde glanced down at himself. After brushing off what he could of the dirt, he looked to his left and then right.
"Shit, shit, shit," he whispered, swallowing a heavy lump, "Which way do I go?"
