Appearance:
Garland is always dressed for death. When he dies, nothing needs to be done to his cold, lifeless body when it comes to that glorious day. Sporting a dark suit, a gray vest, a red ascot, and a white undershirt, Garland walks around the Palace wearing nothing on his feet. Maybe a pair of socks if the day is cold. But for more formal occasions, he'll put on a a dark jacket, put on his cuff links, and cover his hands in his soft white gloves. But then again, he didn't like going to many formal events... Only when someone convinced him as such.
The boogie wears multiple earrings, going all along his ears. Not every day will he load his ear lobes with metal, and never in the same places the next day. One of his prized possessions is a box filled to the bursting point of ear jewelry. With a neat beard that frames his well-defined jaw, Garland is ready to go out into Wonderland and observe the death around him.
Personality:
Garland isn't a crazed, blood thirsty maniac like other boogies in Wonderland. His fascination in death lies solely in the natural process, or mercy killings. That's why he is kind to humans, for the most part. He offers them protection from his boogie brethren, and in turn he watches every day as their internal clock ticks eternally, but their Fate closing soon. None of his human slaves actually know this is why he is nice, but then again, those that knew are long since dead.
Garland's attitude towards boogies is a similar fashion. He makes friends and makes sure they stay out of unnatural harm's way. And with that, he gains the unthought of right to stay by the dying boogie. Only then does the possibly heart-shattering realization crawl across their mind as the last breaths escape their black lungs. Garland's dark intentions have been hidden away long enough to allow him to be patient and act un-boogieish to humans, and good boogieish towards his own kind. A very nice man to have a chat with... if you can stand his random rants of various topics. Oh yes! Garland is far more eccentric than just loving death. He talks of things that no normal being, human or boogie, would think of. Never a dull moment with this chap!
How Their Life Is / Was
Father: Luther Von Clossen
Mother: Victoria Von Clossen
Grand-Nephew: Lucien Von Clossen
History:
Garland's life was... interesting. His family, from the highly-esteemed family of Von Clossen, has always been of what felt like a higher class. Above other boogies and their horrid ways of pain and torture and violence... Being an only child, the young boy was brought up to be the model citizen, for Wonderland, that is. To treat slaves as valued, but expendable, things. Don't do this, it's not proper. Don't do that, it's frowned upon by your family. Nag nag nag! Everything Garland enjoyed was not what the family wanted him to do. But no... That's not what Garland wanted.
Years drug on, Garland becoming more 'trained', as he would say, but going about his business as he pleased on his own in the shadows of his parents. They knew nothing, except the perfect boy they thought they had raised. He would smile when it was proper, but only wish that the long event would end soon! How he hated his jacket... The only flaw they ever saw in their perfect son was when he would tug at his sleeves. But that was only so minor they never worried about it.
Boy, were they surprised when he showed up one day, ears loaded with jewelry. They were so very "disappointed" in him! Showing such unruly behavior... And while they were so ill! It wasn't their illness that made him stand up to them, it was the constant encouragement from his lover, Kathryn. They had been married a few decades before Garland stood out and did what he wanted! But their son, their perfect son... Showing up to be what he never really was crushed them so. They were dead the next morning. And... Garland was happy! He did love his parents, despite what he was put through, but their death was a new experience! This was when he was hooked on death. He stood by dying children, watching their last breaths... Was this wrong? But... It interested him so! Never did he mourn the loss of a life. Death was his greatest pleasure.
Except one.
Kathryn died due to a freak accident in the Labyrinth. A beast had slipped out and drug her away... Garland had followed, but the internal damage was already done ,though her smooth, soft skin was undamaged... The perfect corpse. This was when he knew how others felt of death... But still, he did not feel entirely sad. Almost jealous! Kathryn had beaten him to his goal: Death. At the funeral, many members of the family came, most seeing the odd boogie as a disgrace, but honoring the memory of the beloved wife. But another pang of not-quite-sadness crept over him, forcing him to leave before the ceremony was complete.
He had wandered around the church, finding nothing of interest, except for an open door at the end of a deserted hall. Curious, the boogie entered the room, knowing immediately that another was in the room full of coffins. Eyes one, he thought he saw movement. Going to it, he opened the casket slowly... and inside lay his nephew's son, Lucien Von Clossen. The boy was so happy looking, enjoying the pure bliss of the afterlife in a make believe game. Knowing the boy's father, he knew that John would be like his own father, suppressing his true interests and hobbies. That would not be acceptable. From that day on, Garland made it a point to see the child as much as he could and encourage the love of the morbid in his young soul. And thus, Garland came to love Lucien like his own son, which he never had.
Familiars/Puppets:
Garland's small army of puppets is made up of six individual puppets. Their names, from left to right, are Jax, Abul, Shem, Dole, and Grugle. The biggest one is named Turge. Now, keep in mind they can't all be used at once, and rarely consecutively. Garland loves his toys, and usually keeps them out of harms way. But he's been known to roam the halls with Turge, looking for any boogie bringing about an unnatural death. The only hint one would receive of a puppet being used or around would be the constant clickings and tickings of the unknown gears ad mechanisms that lay within them.
