While most of Wonderland was out and about, either reveling in their ignorant bliss or striving to drown their insight, Naelona Ezel was nowhere to be seen. The sun was well up, but the boogie was still in bed, stretched out on her back, arms over her head draped over the pile of pillows behind her. Watching the sunlight trickle in between the thick curtains on her balcony doors, the boogie was about as lazy as an Ezel could be. Even Mar was curled up contentedly asleep beside her.
Heart Day was a peculiar day when some other worldly force seemed to take control of Wonderland. The humans didn't fight with boogies, boogies didn't steal slaves from one another. No-one left unsightly, bloody messes in the palace. It was everything she wanted to accomplish in Wonderland. A balanced system of cooperation and efficiency. Read that rather - a day sans destructive and wasteful practices. There was only one catch to this entire scene was Wonderland was also plunged into a land-wide sickness that ran rampant for one day. The one day ruled by the one thing she detested most delivered the one result she desired but could never quite achieve. How ironic.
There was one downside, however. Slaves couldn't be harmed or killed so Heart Day was also often called 'Leftover's Day' for many boogies. There was no fresh meat to be had on this day, unless one considered a day-old kill 'fresh'. Swinging her legs over the edge of the bed, Naelona stretched with a yawn and got up, digging out garments for what would render her most comfortable on her one day off. 'Comfortable yet warm' turned out to be a dress she hadn't worn in years crafted mostly of black velvet and a soft gray woolen material. It fit well and had no belt, and the sleeves extended past a useful length to the floor. It was a bliaut with some slight variations from its original design, though not to be confused with a houppelande.
A short while later, Mar was awake and perched on her shoulder as she strode through the halls. Braiding the black and white hair along the sides of her head back, Nae fastened them together with a silver clip at the nape leaving the rest of her hair to do as it pleased. These were things the Ezel was prone to criticizing, but for this day her appearance wasn't one of them as the boogie actually left her quarters of solitude for the sickened masses outside.. willingly. Most everyone would either be too drunk or distracted to notice the Ezel about. An entire day without having to fuss over trouble or chaos. A faint curl upturned the corner of her lips.
Even if it was amidst numerous drunks and deranged ill, today was a day of peace and calm all to herself, of order and (general) sensibility. For today most all things would go well.. just how she liked it.
