It was November, and in that tedious bridge between Fall and Winter. The time when weather couldn't decide it if wanted to be warm, or freeze it's hapless inhabitants to their bones. Either way the leaves were still thick upon the ground and the cool air just added to the sharpness of their crunch, crunch, crunch beneath the pair's feet. Carrying a bag in one gloved hand, Naelona led the way through the Crimson Woods. After spending much of the afternoon with Kristopher in the Market, a bit of a trip was in order. Speaking a few words to Mar the creature chattered at her, and scampered off ahead.
"Do you know where we are going?" She asked the blond boy, if not a faint bit coyly. Looking over her coated shoulder at him the boogie stepped a bit closer to the boy as the rest of Wonderland disappeared behind the trees. The cabin was some distance away yet, but there were would be plenty of time to arrive. Either way Nae seemed to be in a better mood today than most. Err, temperament, rather. Despite all the chaos seeming to leap out at once, and the lack of sleep of late, she was doing remarkably well.
"I have something for you tonight." Passing underneath the bare trees, the dolls hanging idly above. Who knew who hung them above up there, just that they remained there for years and once they disappeared.. new ones seemed to take their place. Like fruit. 'The fruit of souls' some might say. But they were still dolls, through and through.
Pulling out a silver watch from her pocket by the chain, Naelona glanced upon the face as though expecting it to tell her the time. It didn't. She tucked it back away just as quietly without a word. They would still have enough time. Glancing at the slave, as bundled as she'd made him be, with a skeptic eye and a light poke to his chest with her pipe. "Did you bring your pet with you? Kender?" The boogie tongue for the word was oddly similar to their word for 'familiar', and easily confused. It wasn't that important, but it still seemed to amuse the Ezel.

Mismatched eyes looked up towards the dying trees for a moment before looking straight ahead, carring a few things for the two of them. To be honest, he wasn't certain what brought about this sudden trip but he was happy to get away from life for a short amount of time. That is, if he wasn't going to be let loose to find his way home in the dark, that would be deadly.
Looking over his well bundled shoulder, he watched as the world seemed to faded away and soon, all he would see is trees, trees, and more trees. Not bad really. But still, it made hima little uncomfortable.
Looking towards his boogie, he blinked a few times. "I have an idea." he said softly, "I sorta remember this route, doesn't it lead to a cabin?" He inquired as he adjusted his load.
Slowly, the blond raised the brow, what would Naelona have for him? He had no idea and so with a shake of his head, he stepped over a few large tree routes. When he was addressed again, he smiled softly.
"No." He said and then as if on cue, a soft meow was heard from within his coat. Looking sheepish, "Um, yes, Ken didn't want me to leave and so...he sorta stole away in my coat." The blond laughed lightly at that. It was the truth, Kender would go nowhere without his human and being left alone with Augusta and Vasant was not an option.
He perfered his cat to be breathing.
"I hope it's alright, that he is here."

"It does." The boy was correct. It did lead to the cabin, if they continued the direction they were following. She wouldn't permit the boy to wander back alone, in the dark. Had she known his thoughts she might have scolded him for even pondering it. True, these could be very dangerous places when the light died and only nocturnal creatures could make their way about. There were places, after all, even boogies did not care to go.
Her coal eyes were upon their path, but her attentions were upon the frail slave beside her. The fail blond with the mis-matched eyes. Even if the latter was a result of a work of her own doing, it was still something that demanded attention. Something about it upon the boy, she fully approved. Except for a lie. Frankly the lighthearted afternoon and the comedic timing of Kender spared the boy from the boogie seeing it for what it was. At least for now.
Giving Kris a look, Nae started unbuttoning his coat a little, pulling the collar open so she could peek inside and see the cat. With a soft sound from her throat - who knew what inspired it, but it didn't sound malicious - the boogie reached in and scratch the feline behind the ears a few moments before buttoning the coat back up again. Looking at the boy and his mis-matched eyes, she cupped his cheek and kissed his brow lightly, having barely touched him before resuming the unmarked path to their unseen destination.
"It's quite alright." The boogie assured, shuffling her feet through the noisy leaves. "He's well enough behaved. I don't believe it should be an issue." Suddenly Naelona had a new concern for her own familiar, Mar. It was already well known between the two that it was the feline who ruled the roost when it came down to the two animals. Mar only got a scratched up face.
"You recall the last time you were here?" Motioning ahead with a gloved hand, the cabin could be made out vaguely between the trees. "When it was winter, snowing, and you'd injured yourself." For a moment her teeth settled pinching the inside of her lower lip. It'd almost been the death of him, either of them, save for that cabin. "I believe it's changed a bit since we've last visited." Something in her voice betrayed she knew more than she was letting on, but that was beyond the point. Kris could wait until they got inside to see.

At least he knew where he was going, that was a plus. He smiled at her still as she turned to him and looked down into his coat. The callico male looked up at Naelona with its large eyes and meowed happily. It was strange really, the little beast adored Naelona but utterly hated Augusta with a passion. He never could understand why either, Augusta was the one that gave him the cat and well....he guessed it was because Augy hated felines.
He pushed the thoughts from his mind and still only smiled from the kiss and Ken purring away against his chest like a happily lump of fur that he happened to be. He was thrilled to know everything was fine and she didn't mind the cat, it was a peace of mind.
Once again, the blond raised a brow as he walked through the woods. "I barely recall someone it, its been so long and I was pretty ill." But he could remember some and how poor the cabin had been at the time he and Naelona had used it for cover.
"Changed? What's been changed about it?" He inquired with a tilted head, "Did someone patch the holes up?" God only knew how many holes that old cabin had that night!
He figured she wouldn't tell him until they got there and he could live with that. They weren't to far away from it anyways, he could see it planly now and that was wonderful. It would start getting dark in about three to four hours from now.
Moving his left hand, he readjusted Kender within his jacket. "Guess, I'll find out soon enough." he mused.
